Kinect No Longer Connected

For those of you who were wary of the Xbox One’s need to have your Kinect connected at all times for the machine to be operable at all, you can rest easy. Unless you are looking to use Kinect enabled software, the Kinect can remain unplugged.

While before Microsoft said you could still turn off the Kinect through settings in the system, today Microsoft’s Marc Whitten spoke to IGN and confirmed that you can indeed use your Xbox One while your Kinect 2.0 sits unplugged, “although you won’t be able to use any feature or experience that explicitly uses the sensor,” he said. Which makes sense.

Now that you don’t need to have the Kinect sensor connected 100% of the time, does it change your mind on the Xbox One? Were you buying one before anyway? Let us know in the comments down below.
