EA Confirms No New Star Wars Titles Until At Least April 2014!

If you were hoping to get a chance to play in a galaxy far, far away sometime in the near future don’t hold your breath…

Earlier today during a post earnings call for the fiscal 2013 year, EA confirmed that we will not be seeing any of their new Star Wars game during the 2014 fiscal year (runs from April 1st 2013 through March 31st). Just in case you missed it, yesterday the publisher announced an exclusive deal with Disney in which they will be publishing and developing basically all future Star Wars games (except for mobile platforms which will still be handled by Disney).

So far all we know is that both DICE (Battlefield) and Visceral (Dead Space) are hard at work on some new titles while Bioware will continue to work on Star Wars: The Old Republic. The other good news is that the new games will be for all platforms and will be using their amazing Frostbite 3 engine (Star Wars Battlefront revival or maybe another Republic Commando?).

I really hope the gamer’s get the best of this deal as its been awhile since we have had some good Star Wars video games.
