Duke Effin’ Nukem
September 5th, 2010 |I honestly do not believe it. If you would have asked me which I would see first in my life, a Cyborg Unicorn with machine guns on its back or the release of Duke Nukem Forever, I would have probably picked that Unicorn. I’m sure most gamers would also have written it off as something that would never happen. But it has my friends, it has.
It started development in what I believe was 1997. Then as the years went by the only time you would hear Duke Nukem was probably as some sort of joke due to the delays or just lack of info. Then randomly we start hearing about it again in 2009 but not in a good way. 3D Realms pretty much closed its doors and then gets sued by Take Two for not ever finishing the game. But now at PAX 2010 developers Gearbox Software (makers of last years hit Borderlands) have brought back Duke from what seems like death for the series. The game so far looks pretty solid from screens and videos that I have looked at. Ill admit, I am also excited that Gearbox has taken the reigns. I really enjoyed Borderlands and think they can probably take Duke into the right direction.
Not too much activity as far as game releases this week. I think the biggest ones are Spider-man Shattered Dimensions and Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. Ill probably pick up Spiderman due to my love of all things superheroes and the fact that the game looks fun. As much as I love Kingdom Hearts I just am not “dying” for Birth by Sleep. It is probably since its on the PSP. For some reason I have a hard time finishing games that are on portable systems. I don’t really travel much and when I go out I’m always the one driving. When I am home I would rather just play a console. I might end up picking it up later down the line but as for now I have no plans on getting it.
