Dog Days
August 18th, 2010 |I picked up Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days yesterday and got a chance to put a few hours into the story. So far I am impressed with the direction the series is headed and the changes are nice. The biggest change would probably be the visual style. It’s as if someone was following the protagonists with a camcorder, you will see a grainy like view and also expect some shaky came effects. Think the show Cops, but with more a snuff film vibe. I really enjoy the style as its very different from what we have seen before.
I also need to add that the game is definitely not for kids (duh! It’s rated M people). There are a lot of graphic and emotional scenes in the game. In one part, one of the guys just literally breaks down and sobs his life out. He has lost everything and its just a chilling scene. The way the game presents is very real and emotional. So they nailed that aspect. Now the game is not without faults. I noticed a few AI problems and glitches. One time and important enemy I was chasing literally got stuck and would not move no matter what. I had to restart from a previous checkpoint. Honestly, it wasn’t that big of a deal but it kind of throws you out of the game world.
I am also hearing that the game is short. I know, I know you have played games that are short. From my understanding its anywhere from 3-5 hours. So far I put it maybe 2 last night and I can see that the game is nearing its finale. I honestly do not care, but I know some of you guys out there are so I figured I would mention it. I haven’t had a chance to play the online because I wanted to finish the story. Most of the achievements are based in the online portion so I am guessing that’s where most people will spend their time. Ill post some impressions once I get some time online. So far, as a fan of the first Kane and Lynch I am really enjoying the second. Ill let you know once I finish if that changes.
