That Summer Lull
July 25th, 2010 |Capcom vs Namco, Namco vs Capcom! How amazing would that have been if they stuck completely with all their cast of characters ala Marvel vs Capcom! This would have made many dreams come true, especially a match up of these epic proportions! Alas, it’s not meant to be, as Capcom and Namco announced it’s just a franchise crossover of Street Fighter x Tekken using the SFIV engine, and vice versa by Namco using the Tekken engine.
At least I finally get to beat down on that punk-ass Tekken cast, I suppose.
So where’ve I been? Honestly, folks, a full-time day job, a wife, some gaming, and keeping the website up and running runs a toll on you. I think Marcos has been doing an amazing job of keeping you all filled in on the gaming industry and otherwise. He’s been running up and down on Twitter and Facebook with updates and whatnots and trying to get the word out to peeps out there about us, and anyone you know that would enjoy our amazingly on-the-ball, (completely immature) comic hi-jinks, send them our way.
We’ve got plenty of ways to keep up, and keep in mind that, lately, every Thursday night I hop on our LiveStream channel to draw the coming Sunday’s strip. You can hop on and talk to myself and Marcos, plus any one else that may be watching. It’s fun! And I play music, (but I don’t sing, I promise). So seriously, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. We don’t bite, and we generally don’t talk about what a lovely dump we just took – we try to keep it on website updates and whatever gaming news we catch whiff of before you do.
We’ll be like that nerd buddy of yours, who always comes up to you before you find out shit on your own, all like, “dude! Dude! Joss Whedon said Nathan Filion will be Ant Man in the Avengers movie, dude! He said it on his panel! HAI FIVE!” And then you find out your friend lied because he couldn’t contain his girlie screams and thus couldn’t hear that Joss was kidding on his panel, so then you punch him.
But I digress.
As for what I’ve been doing? Shit, not much. Honestly, I’m thankful for our regularly scheduled summer lull the game industry loves to settle into. I have absolutely no game purchase from mid June through the end of August. I’m not a football guy – much – so NCAA Football and Madden don’t mean much for me. Crackdown was never really my frill, though the wife loved it and mowed it down in no time flat with friends.
It’s not all lost on me, though. Deathspank has been fun, so far, (but no online coop? What the fuck, peeps?) Limbo I’ll soon have in my hands, as well. What I’m really working on this summer is catching up with some games I’ve been wanting to finish, like 3D Dot Heroes – which is fucking amazing and has swallowed me hole – and then later finish up Mario Galaxy 2, should life allow it. After that, I’ll probably join everyone else back on the main-train, with Halo Reach mid September, followed by a healthy dose of zombie slaying with Dead Rising 2, and into whatever the rest of fall has to offer.
Yes, I’m aware there are a handful of games prior to Reach, but I’m on a budget. A budget of both money and time. Gotta spend them wisely.
Expect my review of 3D Dot Heroes later on in the end of the month, hopefully. Late, yes, but shit if this game shouldn’t need more lovin’!
