March 7th, 2010 |Thanks for the good times, buddy.
So, what the hell happened this last week, kiddies? PS3s died for close to 48 hours starting on Sunday, Activision proves to everyone in the gaming community, from both gamers and game-journalists alike, that they are all about milking the money – not that we didn’t already get the message when they took over Guitar Hero – by firing Infintiy Ward founders Jason West and Vince Zamp… that other guy with the hard last name – we’ll call him Zampy – due to “insubordination”, Mega Man 10 released and is as hard as its brethren before it, Rock Band Network went live with an even more frantically growing music library, Major League Baseball 2k10 released to modest and positive outlooks and seems to have saved itself by hanging on a thread, and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 released to wide appeal and praise and many calling it the closest thing to taking the Modern Warfare throne.
Oh, and Portal 2 has been officially announced through the new issue of Game Informer! All is well.
It’s been, what, a little over two years, right? I should be pissed off that there is still no word about Episode 3, but something about the draw of another Portal seems to please me to no end. That game was breathtaking, fresh, and, despite the fact that a computer AI is the one with all the dialogue and the main character speechless, also a very well written game. They’ve been going all out, though, by updating your Portal game through Steam, and adding a bunch of encrypted images through sound files in the game.
Remember ilovebees.com? This is pretty much what Valve is attempting right now. There are threads on Steam right now and, if you’ve placed your $10 for it, at Somethingawful’s game boards, as well. Out of respect of those working hard to uncover everything, I won’t post any pictures, (but Somethingawful goons are way ahead of the game). It’s amazing stuff, though, as Valve has actually started up a dial-up BBS board, with private logs of Aperture Science and the such. To top it off, not only did they add these crazy hidden files in the game, they also added to the game’s ending, which is pretty nuts, if I do say so myself. Sealing the madness comes the news that Macs will finally get a new game for their OS, namely Steam and Half-Life stuff. Personally, I’m not sure if Mac users are ready to put down Marathon yet.
As for the site, we should start up with some reviews some time soon. Don’t worry your little selves about the message boards. It’ll come. No hurry on that yet, mom, you can still come in contact with me on the phone, like normal. If there’s anyone else out there reading, when the boards are up and running, it’ll be open to the public, not just family. Search is currently not working, (though there isn’t much to search), and the site doesn’t seem to want to behave with in which how to properly show our blog posts, but we’ll get it all fixed. In the mean-time, just keep reading our shit!
